R: Hey Daniel Schuhmacher! I am so happy to invite you to our interview! There are some questions for you and please feel free to talk. First, we want to know about you, what’s your job and habits?

D: Hi Ray, I am a 29-year-old Graphic Designer and Photographer from Germany. In my spare time, I love photographing, traveling and exploring nature.

R: When did you begin photographing? How did everything happen?
D: I had interest in nature and landscape since my childhood and this was the origin of my photography. In 2009, I bought my first DSLR and thereby I discovered this wonderful passion from my heart and it became stronger than stronger.

Since then, I spent most of my time on photographing and traveling. This experience do always impress me, to explore original and untouched nature, secluded beaches… And I try to capture these places as authentic as possible.

R: Where you have been for shooting? Among all the spots, where is most unforgettable?

D: My passion for photography draws me repeatedly toward the native woodlands in Germany, but I also love to travel abroad, to discover other interesting places in other countries like Portugal, Madeira and Porto Santo. And as a wildlife photographer, of  course South Africa, Kenya are my dream destinations.

Place which most impressed me is Portugal until now. I have visited this beautiful country as well as the belonging islands for four times so far but I am sure it wasn’t the last time.

This shot is a panorama made from 12 vertical pictures, resulting in 51 megapixels.

R: For those panorama lovers, it’s familiar that you have won the prize of PanoBook 2016, do you have something to share with us?

D: Thank you! I am very happy that I won the the first price with one of my pictures in the PanoBook 2016!

Whenever the scenery is beautiful and particularly wide enough, I will capture it in a panorama because I like the look of the resulting aspect ratio and also the higher resolution compared to a partial shot with an even more fine details.

R:  As an experienced photographer, I wonder if there is some tricks to take a good landscape photography?

D: This is a good question. It’s not easy to answer this in general, but the most important things might be a sensitive observation and the ability to control your equipments.

For my works I use DSLRs and lenses from Canon with NiSi holder and filter system to get high-quality pictures.

R: You are unique compared with most of photographers who only focus on landscape, we noticed that you have taken some photos of wildlife even the beasts.

D: I like animals in general but what attracts me mostly is the African nature scenery. I traveled to foreign countries to photograph big cats, exotic birds and other wildlife in their natural habitats. That is why I experienced unforgettable moments in South Africa and Kenya.

R: Sounds really attractive! Could you share some stories of this cheetah in this picture?

D: During one of my safari tours headed to the Masai Mara in Kenya, I met the unforgettable experience. A cheetah mother and one of her two cups decided to climb on top of our car to get a high viewpoint from the rooftop, from where they had a better viewpoint to look for hunting. In Kenya, people don’t prey them, so only try to be cool and relaxed and nothing will happen… I was very closed to them and that provide my opportunity to shoot nice close-ups and wide-angle pictures of these awesome cats.

R: Wow, such a exciting story and precious experience! The last question, about the future, what do you plan to do?

D: Well, my plan for the future is to travel even more and shoot many awesome places on our planet.
