Z: Hi Emre, it’s nice to meet you! Firstly, could you share us a bit about yourself?

E: I’m a photographer and filmmaker living in Istanbul, Turkey. I was graduated from Mimar Sinan Fine Arts University. For the past 8 years, I have been running my own company, providing my clients with different marketing solutions for the digital world. My main goal is to create great content that brings people a variety of emotions and a sense of belonging through the artistic and cinematic medium. Long Exposure Photography is my greatest love and since I started my professional career, I have never lost my amateur passion and been working on long exposure photography all the time.

Z: What was the motivation to start your career in photography?

E: The art of photography is made up of light and time. From the time I started taking pictures, I was amazed by using light and time to tell stories. Long exposure photography, in particular, is all about “light and time”. Don’t you think so?

Z: Could you take us through your creative journey and tell us what it is that you look for in an image?

E: The journey to a photography destination, challenging nature, using the camera as a tool for creating art, and ultimately creating images that are vital to the people. And if there is a human figure in the photo, then I will feel satisfied and feel like I’ve found what I want.

Z: Are there any challenges you face in making landscape photographs, and what are they?

E: As Landscape Photographers, the biggest challenges we face is weather conditions, as well as finding individual photo locations and racing against time to capture light.

Z: When did you start using NiSi filters and why?

E: Judy from NiSi reached me out in April this year. This is how I started using NiSi filters. At that time, NiSi filter is not yet officially available in our country. Best regards to Judy for contacting me out!

Z: Which NiSi products do you usually use in your work?

E: I mainly work with a NiSi V6 holder and 100x100mm ND and GND filters. And NiSi’s Natural Night filter and variable ND are also essential to my photo and video workflow.

Z: Among all the photos you took with NiSi filters, which one is your favorite? What went into creating it?

E: To find a remote location and combine it with a human figure was my main goal in creating this image, which is my favorite photo created with NiSi system. I stacked 5 images and the final image was 61 sec exposure. I think the human figure creates a scaling effect and the viewer can feel the vastness of the scene more than ever before.

Z: Do you have any tips for someone just starting out?

E: First of all I always say this: do what you love and love what you do! Besides, I always use the best equipment that I can support. I think new starters should invest in the best lenses and filters, because they are essential things in landscape photography. At a minimum, they need a good wide-angle lens, which can start with a 10 Stop circular or square filter. And I can’t emphasize more how important GND filters are to my work.

Z: What’s your plan for the future, photographically?

E: I have a YouTube channel where I teach landscape photography and share my passion with my followers. My plan is to expand it globally and take my Landscape Adventure to the next level!
